Practice!

Even the Bad Guys Practiced!

You’ve heard the old joke about the traveler looking for directions in Cambridge, Mass, “how do I get to Harvard?” he asks a service station attendant. “Study,” said the attendant.

How do you give a powerful speech that engages your audience? Practice! Here are some suggestions:

1. Find a quiet place and give it to yourself.

2. Stand in front of a mirror and give your talk. You'll see right away what you are doing.

3. Set up a video camera and tape yourself, review it and repeat as necessary.

4. Get your friends or family to listen to you give your speech. They'll be supportive!

5. Practice for your Toastmasters club or speech coach.

If you do any of these suggestions beyond just practicing alone, you are sure to improve faster than the majority of public speakers!
